Site History and Findings of Fact
The former Brookfield Air Force station is located near Brookfield, Ohio. The site contained 44.59 fee acres, 3.35 acres of easements, and 0.08 leased acres. Portions of the property were acquired by purchase and condemnation in 1955, having originally been leased in 1950.
There were 27 buildings constructed by the Air Force, plus a radar tower, electrical raceway, and 17 underground storage tanks.
24.23 fee acres were declared excess to GSA on October 1962 and conveyed to the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners by quitclaim deed in June 1963, with several other parcels conveyed to them from 1965 to 1969, for the use for public health purposes. Another 7.77 acres fee was conveyed to the Brookfield Local School District to be used for educational purposes.
The radar tower was still standing at the time of the 1991 report, and was noted as being structurally defective
