Site History and Findings of Fact
DOD leased 7.06 acres on October 1956 and the Air Force constructed an unmanned radar station consisting of a concrete cinder block building, power plant, electric lines, underground diesel storage tank, access road and security fence.
The site was operated by personnel from Ozona Air Force Station from July 1957 to July 1963, when it was excessed and transferred back to the original landowner. The communications, power generator equipment, and radar tower were removed by the Air Force.
Current Use of Site at time of FUDS Report
The original landowner leases the building to B & B Communications of Del Rio, Texas, for use as a cellular telephone repeater station. A communications tower has been erected beside the building to support the repeater. The three tower supports, diesel storage tank, and security fence posts still remain.
