Site History and Findings of Fact
This 81.97-acre property was acquired and developed between 1954 and 1959 from property of the Old Fort Keogh Military Reservation, and was known as Miles City Air Force Station, also known as the 902nd AC&W Squadron.
It is located within the U.S. Livestock Experimental Station on what was formerly a livestock grazing field.
Improvements consisted of 60 buildings, including operation and administrative facilities, dormitories, family housing units, radar domes, and the normal support facilities/utilities. Helicopter pad and skeet range were also included.
It was closed about July1, 1968, and a preliminary draft of `Report Of Excess` was furnished to GSA and other intendees during pre-disposal conference on 25 July 1968`.
The site was divided into the main Air Force Station area with access road, Waste Annex (sewage lagoon), Water System Annex (well site), Family Housing Annex, and Communications Facility Annex.
Current Use at Time of Report
The report does not address the current condition or use of the radar site, or portions thereof, except to say that `a number of structures were moved to the ARS administration site`, and that `others were simply abandoned and allowed to deteriorate`.
