Good news Gene, I have located Niobe GF
Power was supplied by Burke-Divide Electric Coop. I contacted an old time employee of the Coop & he was familiar with the site. The site was sold in approx 1974 to one "Delmer Christenson" for $800. The generator was still in the building so he figures he "got a good deal". Delmer works for the Farmers Union Coop in Kenmare. The fellow I talked to at the electric coop was "Norbert Neilson". He indicated the bld`g, tower & fence are still there.
The site is located on what is called "Little Butte" ,elevation 2482 ft.
As close as I can figure from my map the coordinates are:
48 38` 45" North
102 18` 00" West
Driving directions: (Updated 1 July, 2000) West out of Kenmare on Highway 2A several miles. Pass the village of Niobe, then south on highway 16A (gravel) to the top of the butte. You`ll be able to see the site, along with a radio tower there. The entrance road is posted "No Trespassing" now.
