Site History and Findings of Fact
In 1958, the Dept. of Defense acquired a total of 1.67 acres of land via right-of-way and easement permit. The Air Force constructed and operated an unmanned gap filler until January 1961, with the parent installation being the 686th AC&W Squadron at Walker AFB. The site was declared excess to the mission in January 1961 and the site was conveyed to the New Mexico State Highway Commission by quitclaim in the fall of 1962. At the time of the 1993 report the property was privately owned by C. C. Cattle Corp. The owner had been using the building to store hay for cattle feeding, but stopped when it became inhabited by bats. The three concrete tower foundations and anchor bolts still exist.
